“Not every teacher may be a mother or father, but every mother and father is certainly a teacher.”
Tim Seldin, Founder of the Montessori Foundation.

When parents, who are the child’s first teachers, approach their child’s school life with a supportive and reassuring attitude, it helps the child have positive experiences with the school and teachers. The Montessori approach to education is based on universal principles of human development. These principles not only assist teachers in their work but are also important for parents to consider while raising their children. By aligning your home environment and approach with your child’s Montessori school, you can support your child’s education and development.
Here, both the school and families have a multifaceted responsibility. As Büyükyalı International Montessori School, we:
- Strive to maintain a relationship based on mutual trust and respect, with transparency between the school and the family.
- Keep the school doors open to parents, thereby fostering an inviting and harmonious atmosphere that nurtures further relationships.
- See ourselves as a team working towards the same goal and as a large family community, both as a school and with families.
- Plan family education seminars and meetings to inform parents about Montessori philosophy and methodology.
- Hold individual parent-teacher meetings multiple times during the school year to share development reports and portfolios.

Our expectations from parents are for them to:
- Share your ideas, interests, thoughts, and concerns with the school officials and their child's teacher by participating in the communication channels established by the school.
- Participate in family involvement activities in their child's classroom by scheduling appointments with our teachers.
- Plan an observation day with our teachers at least two months after the start of school.
- Make an effort to participate in planned family activities, picnics, and trips organized by the school.
